Don’t we all want to be part of something truly helpful?

Yes! Perhaps it’s time to slip below the surface and find a more heartfelt purpose. We’ll never find our helpful truth on the outside, though it will be reflected there. Beyond good deeds, truth’s discovery is an inside job. With the body as an agent for inquiry, the Avita Yoga® teacher training is for anyone seeking health and higher Wholeness. It is designed equally for teachers (who plan to teach it) and students (who want to better understand it).

Avita Yoga meets the student “where they are at,” according to their ability, age, and constitution. This aspect of the curriculum is deeply healing for the student–learning how to facilitate this is incredible for the teacher trainee! It’s what we’re all about.

Come to this training to:

  • Build community and make new friends
  • Learn how to identify and resolve compensatory patterns
  • Ground yourself with practical skills to help yourself and others
  • Find lasting peace in uncertain times, the most practical goal of yoga. To join.
  • Learn the Socratic art of true inquiry to better inform both teacher and student
  • Learn therapeutic teaching skills for powerful private sessions, both online and in-person
  • Learn more about yourself and bring hidden talents to the surface

It’s not only what you teach, but how you teach it.

OBJECTIVE

The purpose of the training is to inform and inspire, which makes it helpful to all. The aspiration to formally teach is not necessary and no previous yoga training is required. What matters is the desire to learn and grow as a student. Newfound knowledge and skills are naturally shared when the time to teach arises.

THE AVITA YOGA STUDENT

Success as a teacher will always depend on one’s willingness to remain a student. We might ask, “How do we become teachers while maintaining a beginner’s mind?” The answer goes beyond the notion of continually learning new information. Beginner’s mind “begins” with true humility and open-mindedness, which is essential to access the guidance of true Self, the goal of yoga. No matter how “advanced” we become, beginner’s mind keeps the practice fresh, compelling, and truly helpful.

THE AVITA YOGA TEACHER

A teacher must have a sincere desire to help others, which sounds trite until you realize that a desire to help others will fail without an equal willingness to help and heal oneself. This is the unification process we call yoga. To “yoga” is to join. The backbone of this teacher training is geared toward this healing process and awakening of the Self. Honest self-study or Svadhyaya keeps the teacher honest, healthy, and whole as they help others. How will you successfully guide another through their practice if you cannot guide yourself through your own? Teaching comprehension of Avita Yoga improves through self-study, giving your words deeper meaning as teaching skills improve.

As teachers, we commit to our own healing, the process and practice that comprise the foundation of this training. To share and teach Avita Yoga is a profoundly fulfilling responsibility. Throughout the training, you will fill your life’s “toolbox” with tools that will help you and those around you for a lifetime. Sharing Avita Yoga and the peace and happiness it brings fosters the same in you, making the experience great for your students and remarkable for you, the continually aspiring teacher.

The learning begins with you.

WHY THE AVITA YOGA TEACHER TRAINING?

Come to this training to learn about yourself, grow with others, and draw out hidden gifts that you were created to share. Whether through a formal teaching setting or not, we all teach through demonstration! If so, it’s our yoga to get crystal clear on who we are and what we teach. Come to this training to develop universal teaching skills and add Avita Yoga to your lifelong “box of tools” for personal, professional, and spiritual growth. The format, material, and content are for anyone and all!

“I am grateful for the experience of the Avita Teacher Training. Having taught other styles of yoga for the past 17 years, none of them resonated with me as deeply as Avita. Being able to meet and connect with other proponents of the practice from around the globe and share this practice, had a power all its own.

Through the training, I was able to expand my own practice and deepen the connection between mind, body and spirit. Jeff has an incredible ability to relay the finer points of Avita in such a meaningful manner.

He balances the importance of practice with lightness, bringing a fun sense of humor to his teaching, reminding us to bring those qualities with us off our mats and into our daily lives.

He will challenge you to look inside and trust yourself in order for you to better connect with your students. I am excited to be teaching Avita as I continue to hone my own practice. You will not be disappointed making the commitment to the training!”

Online and In-person Components

Online learning

Most content is presented online, with all sessions recorded and available for review in the student learning portal. Zoom has proven to be an excellent tool for teacher training. It works.

Practicum

Upon commencement of the training, in-person gatherings will be arranged for those who are local. The same will be made available (indefinitely) for those participating remotely through any live event, retreat, workshop, or regularly scheduled classes in Boulder, CO. Live topics include pattern recognition and the proper use of hands and touch as a teacher. All trainees will be encouraged to observe several live classes taught by Jeff and other certified Avita teachers.

MATERIALS

We will use the classic story of Siddhartha by Herman Hesse as our lead-in to the spiritual aspect of the practice. What is “spiritual” but anything that brings one closer to lasting peace and clarity. Siddhartha (Shambhala Publications) is the story of a young man working through the trials and tribulations of life—to know thyself—the goal of anyone on the yogic journey. We’ll discuss supporting correlations in The Yoga Sutras through the Yoga Mind, a book co-authored by Jeff Bailey and his friend Gene Langlois. Jeff will also share excerpts from his upcoming book, Avita Yoga, A Better Way in Body and Mind

Participants will receive an Avita Yoga Teachers Manual and 50 written Avita Yoga class plans all designed to support the aspiring teacher through the training and in years to come.

Along with any essential anatomy book, Siddhartha is the only book you need to purchase (be sure you get the recommended copy from Shambhala Publications). All other materials provided.
